Halloween This painting captures both the celestial and pagan significance and frivolity of the season. Oak leaves turning, full moon blooming, early dusk, tiny ghosts and witches rushing about in a combination of fright and glee, from house to house. Mary's exquisite rendering of light and shadow shows from the centered, glowing gas lamps in the street, to the comforting glow and warm pools of light cast from the windows of her infamous, glorious Victorian houses.
