Giclée Print Information A true giclée (pronounced zhee-klay) print, such as this one, produced by River City Art Prints of LaCrosse, Wisconsin is an extremely long lasting, high quality reproduction of artwork. The image was generated from a high resolution digital scan and printed with archival quality, pigment based inks onto various buffered, acid-free substrates, including canvas, fine art, and photo-base papers. The giclée printing process provides better color accuracy than other means of reproduction. The quality of the giclée print rivals traditional silver halide and gelatin printing processes and is now commonly found in museums, art galleries, and photographic galleries. If this print is on paper, it should be framed under glass to protect it from excessive exposure to light and environmental contaminants. If this is a canvas print, it has already been treated with a protective lacquer, so that further protection by glass is unnecessary. Although giclée prints are much more resistant to light than are lithographic prints or computer prints made with the more common dye=based inks, it is prudent to display your print in an area that is not exposed to direct sun-light. |
